One of the things I have come to look forward to
in life is my annual pilgrimage to see John Prine. For those of you who don’t
know who John Prine is, there is a great web sight called http://www.jpshrine.org/ that has a lot of
useful information. John Prine is a classic a singer and songwriter with ties
to rock, country and folk. I first started to listen to John Prine when I
worked as a mold maker for a sculpture named Abbe Godwin. This was probably
some time in the late 90’s. She had an old cassette that I would make her
listen to over and over again. I ended up seeing him at the old theatre in
Greensboro around 1998. I would go on to see him in 2001 and 2002 at the wolf
trap. I introduced my friend James Terrel to his music sometime in-between
those two concerts. I saw him in Cary, NC in 2004 and the Warner Theater last
night. It is always a great time listening to his songs about simple people
doing not so simple things. He sings songs about life. Great Stuff.
