Blog fobs are the one of the latest cool things I have gotten myself into. Traditional fobs can be defined as an ornament or seal attached to a chain or ribbon. Blog fobs are those little web elements that are attached to blogs that don’t really server a purpose. For instance I have the weather for Washington DC on my blog. This fob is accomplished by using the first element of an RSS feed that is provided by http://www.rssweather.com/. The feed is processed through http://itde.vccs.edu/rss2js/build.php and shows up on my blog. This is the anatomy of the weather fob for my blog. This can be done for a number of RSS feed to include stocks, news, or anything else you desire. I have recently added the FLCIKR fob http://www.flickr.com/fun/zeitgeist/. This fob shows random pictures from flickr.com. Some fobs like the Google AdSense add monetary content to blogs. Bloggers everywhere are trying to make a buck from this fob. In the first month I was able to pay for four months of my blog service. Google fobs rock. As I find more fobs I will keep you posted. If you find any other cool fobs let me know.
