Welts, weapons and wackiness

Welts, weapons and wackiness is what best describes my recent foray into the SIM Military world of airsoft. Replace the paint in paintball with a high velocity rubber pellet and you have airsoft. The only other difference is the scary realistic looking weapons that are used to play this simulated real world game. Grown men flash back to their childhood in a kind of urban scenario like war game with the only consequence being the awful welts you receive from being hit. Several scenarios were played out to include guarding the embassy, robbing the back and the free for all hunt and kill or death match. All of this under the watchful eyes of our 12 and 14 year old refers who were quick to point out the rules we broke while playing our game of war.(I am not dead you didn’t get me) As the hours went by, we compared tactics and tragedies until the youth of today showed up clad in camouflage and rigged with all the airsoft weapons and gear money could buy. Our group of would-be assassins was quickly devoured by these tactical tots and their toys. We left the field of battle like warriors with the only spoils of war being our welts and our memories.
